I purchased my first snake this evening from Pet Co. for a birthday present for myself. I had been in the market looking for a Corn snake but unfortunately the one I had my eye on passed away in Pet Co.'s care. However this evening when I went I found 2 snakes to choose from, an Albino King snake and a Rat snake. The Rat was marked the way I wanted a corn snake to be marked only without all the bright colors. He is though boldly marked in black and grey, maybe some greens. From looking as some pics on here tonight he looks a lot like the "Fox" breed? I have taken a few pics that I wil add tomorrow. I am hoping someone can provide me a little guidence maybe. I bought a small tank (10 gal) but I also have a 29 gallon to use later that I had my iguana in. I purchased a heat rock and updated my heat lamp to a new bulb. Should I use just one? both? The people at Pet Co. gave me conflicting opinions. I have read that heat rocks arent good for snakes but they thought it was needed. Also, I bought him the same day he arrived in the store and he hasnt eaten yet, will it be a problem giving him pre-killed mice? I apologize for all the questions, I just want to make sure my snake is well cared for and healthy. Any information would be helpful. You can also email me - markpopejoy2000@hotmail.com
thanks again
