Sounds like a Black Rat Snake to me.... I'm from Southeast Missouri and I used to catch Black Rats that had some reddish flecking, including some yellowish/white flecking in their patterns.... I found that the juveniles were more prone to this as most of the 4' + Black Rats I caught were almost solid black, with a bit of white on the neck and under the chin. Hope this helps, but of course I'm just taking a guess.
