Mine calmed down a bit. They never struck much and wouldn't inflate their necks. Once out of the cage they were fast, but generally didn't bite. On occasion when they did it was a very quick strike, never grabbed and chewed. But their teeth cut very effeciently - I felt more like I had been "slashed" rather than bit. My CB yearling strikes when I expose it from under its hide box, but not once its in the hand. The adults tend to watch your face when in the hand - which is un-nerving when you know a strike is probably coming.
A suggestion: They have the best eye sight of any snake I've ever experienced. They are also more sensitive to touch than other snakes. Make sure yours have good, dark hide boxes on either side of the cage, warm and cool. I also wouldn't hold them at all - at least until they are regular feeders.

:What are your guys temperaments like? I've got two pairs - a Wc pair of adults at about eight feet and a pair of CB subadults about 5-6 footers.
:All four are very nervous. Quick to adopt defense postures and to strike. If this doesn't work they bolt and you have to be quick to catch them. However, the thing that drives me nuts is that once in hand they bite repeatedly. I keep lots of elaphe - ridleyi, blues, radiata etc and some of these are mean - but once in hand they tend to calm down.
:However, my spilotes, despite frequent handling keep on biting. They will turn, almost stare at the hand holding them and then they just grab hold and chew!! If it doesn't work they let go, but soon come back for another taste. It's rare one of the four doesn't tag me repeatedly when I'm handling them. Has anyone else got similar gnarly spilotes?
:I kinda love them for it but at the same time it'd be nice if they calmed down a little...
