:I'm Canadian, not an american patriot! :oP Keep asians all you like! I like them as well, in fact, I have 1.1 taiwans! I certainly wish I had more asian snakes, but up here, they are hard to come by and quite pricey, why I know of taiwans being sold for $300 CAD!
::Actually, I don't think there is a lack of interest in American ratsnakes. I really feel it is just the opposite. I know lots of people that keep Baird's and other American rats. I keep a couple corns, Great Plains rats, and a pair of Senticolis.
:Up here, there are not a lot of ratsnakes, mostly corns and some black rats, a few scattered everglades, leucy texas rats are at a premium! I would very much like to see some emoyri's and Senticolis available.
:If anything, I think there's a little less variety in the American rats. After all, it has been said that the Asians will be divided into many more genera, leaving only a few in the Elaphe. I think eventually there will be many genera that we will call ratsnakes and they will be from all over the world.
::I would agree that we should not discount the American ratsnakes, but let's not neglect the Asians either. There's plenty of room for all of them on this forum, as far as I'm concerned anyway.

:I read over my post and even asked my boyfriend where I came across strongly and implied that one should neglect the asian species, I only meant to stir up interest in NA rats and not make any statement on the asian elaphe. I certainly did not mean to offend, only remind everyone of the beauty of our "native" species. That's all and I apologize if you felt put off. I could very easily post a picture of my taiwan and rage on and on about how wonderous they. (Which they are!) But that wasn't the point of my post.

Sorry, Katt. I had a rough day yesterday and was intentionally being testy with you. Thanks for the intelligent response.
It's interesting that you are Canadian and that there is such limited access to the ratsnakes. I only live 1.5 hrs. from the border and can get just about any ratsnake there is. It must be that your government won't allow snakes to cross over, or it is too expensive.
As far as being an American patriot, I don't feel we are much different than being Canadian, at all. People in the world need to start feeling kinship, because divided, we're all in trouble. I feel we are a part of the whole world and I wish I could help Canada with access to some of the ratsnakes because they are awesome, American and Asian.
