Its a big chunk of fossilized crinoid columns. They are everywhere here in Kentucky. You can find them in any of the creeks and highway cuts. I found these on my father in laws property in hardin county. I just thought they would look neat as a back drop, but couldnt get the snake to stay still long enough, and I didnt feel like carrying a 50+lb rock that was bigger than this one.

::These are from today, and if you look at the last picture, you can see he has gotten darker orange. I thought he would lighten up, guess I will just have to wait and see. Although I would like him to stay darker.

::This was taken the day I got him. I think he was right at a month old at that point.
