My Japanese rat hasn’t eaten for 5 weeks and he is around a year old so I decided to take him to the vet. The vet had no experience with Elaphe climacophora yet he suggested putting him into hibernation. The way to do this was (this is what he said):
1. turn off heat mat
2. few days later move him into a colder room
3. colder room, etc. for 2 weeks
4. then put him in the fridge! For a week and a half.
Firstly does anyone think this is right, and also does any one have any personal experience with these snakes could you give me any general advice on this and general keeping.
Thanks,
Eliot
