Black Ratsnake Local?

Is it possible for black ratsnakes to be in southern georgia. Not in deep south but in mid south. I catch many ratsnakes in my chicken houses and they are black when they are big 5-6 with faint markings, 3-4 they are grey with darker blotches and when juveniles they are grey with dark blotches with many red speckles on their sides. My highschool zoology teacher said that they were grey ratsnakes because black rats dont live under the fall line.
