Considering how easily a CB snake could be released into a practically any locale, the plain truth is that even by taking a WC from each place, you could still be starting with an intergrade. Methinks that you'd need to start with at least a half-dozen WC specimens from scattered areas within each of those States, and determine which markers are common to each group, and absent in the opposite group.

I'm very interested in the results of your testing. Most of all, I'd like to see what is proven when you apply your knowledge of the markers you determine to be definitive, to a DNA sample from a leucistic E. o. o.
Hopefully, you'll be able to give us a once-and-forever answer as to whether or not these are intergrades.
