Sounds like you are doing all the right things.
I feed my yearling rat snake a couple of small hoppers every 5 days and he is growing like a weed! My adult corn, I feed 1 or 2 mice, depending on size, every 5 - 7 days. Post some pics when you can, would like to see a grey rat. Dont see too many on here, would be a treat to see it!!

:I set him up in a 30 gallon long tank with hides on both the hot and cool ends. Ambient temps in the house range 75-80 F and I have the warm end a bit elevated in case of any illness - around 88-90 F, but saw no signs of RI and no wetness around his mouth as of yesterday and this morning. I guess Saturday's saliva/mucous thing was a fluke? Either way, he's quarantined and still under close observation in a quiet room away from the rest of my collection. He ate a small mouse no problem last night and is happily cruising the cage. I understand rat snakes have a fairly quick metabolism. Should feeding 1-2 appropriate sized prey items once per week be sufficient?
:Thanks,
