If its tongue is red, then I'd say lindheimeri, but I don't know if that is a distinguishing characteristic between Texas rats and Great Plains rats (never having seen a "purebred" emoryi). The body markings appear to be those of a black rat snake hatchling, but the marking across the top of the head isn't visible, so we'd really need more information to be sure.
