Orange County Quadrivitatta and a question

Here's a nice 6' yellow ratsnake that I picked up on a snake removal call in Orange County, FL. I decided to keep this guy because the habitat he was found in was unsuitable (residential area where the residents wanted him dead :)and he had a really nice temperment.
I was wondering if anyone is aware of any studies regarding the survival success of north american ratsnakes when they need to be moved to another area. I know that most rattlesnakes have a very poor chance of survival if they are not released in very close proximity to the area they are found. I would assume that ratsnakes are more adaptable to new surroundings but I really have no facts to back this up. Since I go on a lot of snake removals involving yellow and red ratsnakes where the habitat is poor due to construction and human encroachment, I would like to know what is a "acceptable distance for relocation".
