Sorry to hear of your eggs not hatching.
But I wanted to comment on your question, "(Why does it seem like the still borns are always the best looking?)" My belief is that the true neonate coloration does not fully occur til the very last stage of development. Therefore, some of the babies that we see still born that are Screamers may have died or had reduced blood flow that resulted in the final stages of color development not occuring, could be wrong, my thoughts only, Ken
:All but 3 of my everglades ratsnake eggs hatched 5 days ago. The other 3 eggs had not dimpled and showed no sign of hatching. I used some cuticle scissors to delicately slit the eggs. The first egg contained a fully formed stillborn with an interesting pattern. Instead of having the typical saddles down it's back it had one continuous stripe from head to tail. (Why does it seem like the still borns are always the best looking?)
:I slit the other two eggs and they contained two live healthy babies. They made it out of the eggs on their own in a couple hours and seem fine. I'm always hesitant to slit eggs that are slow to hatch but I guess the gamble paid off this time.
