w/c and captive snakes I've obtained from people who have them on live only. I agree with Dwight. If you are going to cycle him this season, then feed him live and get his weight up for the cool down. Switch to frozen/thawed when he comes out of brumation. I've received 3 w/c female Texas rats several months ago and they've been on live mice, rats, and chicks until I put them down. I don't like messing with live myself, but that's the choice I make when I collect or obtain wild caughts. Of course in California, where I live, it is illegal to release a w/c or native captive reptile back into the wild. I thought I would throw that in since there was a recent discussion on your KY laws. I also have a pair of KY black rats from last years clutch sent to me by dg. Hang in there sbogill, w/c take a little extra work. I had to soak and work about 6 layers of shed off one of the female Texas rats I mentioned at the start of this post. She had about 8 eye caps still on one of her eyes. You couldn't even tell if she had the eye when I got her. She cleaned up pretty nice though. Good luck.
