Hi, we found a huge black snake curled up in the waterfall of my pond. The only reason we found it was because the water level kept going down, we noticed the water being diverted from the fall and down into the rocks and ground below. When my husband started moving the rocks off the top to see why the water was diverting, the snake came crawing out! He was lying right in the waterfall flow area and causing the flow to go out over the rocks:) The snake was either cooling himself or trying to catch a bird as that's were the birds go to drink. The snake was about 5 feet long and fat. My husband said it was probabley a rat snake and harmless so we would just leave it alone. It was just all dark black. But what is this I was reading about black snakes musking? what is musking? Biting ? Do they ? Thanks so much for any help :) Paula
