:I've been reading all the posts about peoples' preferred subspecies of beauty snake, but I have a question about temperament. From what I've heard, taiwans (friesi) are generally the most tolerant of handling. My question is: Do they just not bite, or are they easy to handle? I'll try to explain it better. Is a tame beauty snake one that does not bite when handled, but is still very quick and active? I've had corns and kingsnakes, but I've never handled a beauty snake. Will all of them be very fast and mobile during handling or do some of them calm down more like the corns and other snakes that I'm used to? Thanks for any help.
:Kevin,
:I dont know that I prefer one spicies over the other but my Friesi adults are much less likely to bite unless it is a feeding response like Marcel said. If I am feeding snakes in their room I just dont reach in their cage because again just like Marcel said they will strike at that time. When the scent of rodents aren't in the room I dont have any problem. Although Friesi are a little faster than many other species of snakes that is part of what I like so much about them. If you have experience with other types of snakes I dont think you would have any problems with Tiawans. Go for it. You wont regret it. Randy Whittington
