Black Rat Hatchling diet

I have a captive-bred black rat hatchling (1 week out of the first shed), and would like to know about first meal alternatives. No-go on f/t pinkies (even after warming). So, sure, I'll do the live pinky next, but before I do, are there any alternatives?

Coincidentally, I have a large adult (5-6') which started out as a little one, and I seem to recall it was an earthworm that got the feeding process going.
