My male and female had a big difference in how deep the probe went so it was a little easier for me (actually my partner Del Alspaw). My male is about 7 feet and the female is approaching 6 feet and growing fast. We probed the male first which went over 10 scale lengths. The female maybe went 3 scales. My partner Del Alspaw is very good at probing and does all of ours. Once he gets the probe insertion point set where he wants it, he will say male or female as soon as he begins inserting. He says he can tell right away if he's in a hemipenis or not. He says when he's setting the probe insertion point that he's actually trying to find one of the hemipenis. He's out of town until tomorrow, but I'll have him look at your post. I was just paraphasing what he says, so he may want to clarify my description. BTW - Congrats on the Spilotes pullatus. I was hoping my female would get gravid this year, but I think I missed on it. She's a wild caught from Honduras that I received at the end of March from Mark Lucas and probably was too late.
