Determining sex of Spilotes pullatus.

I have two S. pullatus that I would like to be breading by next season. The problem comes when I attempted to probe them. They both are apparently the same sex, but this is were the question comes in. How deep do males probe versus females? Both of them probed deeper then I would expect from a female, but shallower than usual for a male. Thanks.
