: : Is the red in this rat snake derived from an albino black rat or a normal that is lacking black coloration?I have a normal that would have this red color if the black was not present. Is this snake a mutation out of brindles or an outcross to another type?

: The snake in the previous pic is from the brindle line, it just has more red than average. The snake pictured in this post is a clean, tan colored snake with reddish blotches. I have seen quite a bit of variation in the brindle line, this may be due to the genetic makeup of the founder stock. The brindle line originated from a wild caught snake captured in the state of GA, an area where it is possible to find assorted intergrades of the black, yellow, and grey rat snake.
The males are the reddest and the females are the grey ones I have the red male in the yellow rat snake book .I bought him from Lloyd last year with a grey female both breeders. They produce 10 babies this year and one hypo male.I have 5 different phases of black rats .hypo licorice rusty albino and brindles all breeders
