I have worked much with colubrids, but not often with rats in general. The texas rat I happenned upon has a temper that easily rivals that of some of the large water snakes I have found. This thing really is just as erratic and off the wall. Jumps up hissing, he actually, the other day, stood up and somewhat chased me in the yard during a photo shoot. Not saying they are bad snakes, I love it. Very pretty, and after a few minutes the snake normally calms down considerably, although it has a temper like none other. My views of course.
