Tiger Rat snake

I have not been interested in rats until I saw a Tiger Rat snake at a pet store. It is about 3 1/2-4 ft and is awesome looking with yellow and black scales turning to jet black about half way along its body. I don't know anything about rats, but this one makes me want to learn. Any advice or experiences?
