I think I may have seen the same snake you are refering to. Is the one the guy selling it, was calling a white oak gray? If so, that is a very nice looking snake.
I have a black rat, and the care for the two are the same. I would keep it in atleast a 20 gal long setup with a locked screen top. Temps need to be around 85 on the warm side and 70-75 on the cool side. I have a human heating pad under one end of the tank on the middle setting and a 40 watt light during the day. At night I shut the light off and the temp usually stays around 70-72 in the whole cage. I leave the heating pad on so if he wants he can hang out there. I have hides on both sides of the tank. Water is changed daily.
Mine is only 9 months old and 18-20" long. Not very big yet, and I feed him every 4 days. Yours I would think once a week or every 5 days would suffice. (Everyone correct me if Im wrong). Feed him a couple of mice. I would either feed f/t or a prekilled, a bite from a mouse can injure a snake pretty bad if bitten in the right spot. Not worth the risk.
Post some pics of him when you get a chance, would like to see if it is the same snake I saw.
Here is a pic of my black rat, still has his markings.
Gonna start warming up enough here in Kentucky to start doing some herping! Cant wait.
Good luck and happy herping!
Brian
