I hate to break this to you all, but the same active ingredient is used in both products. Provent-a-Mite has .5% of an 'isomer of promethryn', while Black Knight has 2% of d-phenothrin. Both of these compounds fall under a class of insectisides called pyrethrins. Now, without getting into extremely detailed chemical analyses and toxicity studies, it appears that black knight is more concentrated, by a factor of 4 ( assuming that slightly different derivates of the same class of compound have the same insect toxicity). This means that you nead to be REALLY careful not to overdose. But it also means that both will do the trick, and that if you are careful, black knight has more mite killing capability per can. Just to reaffirm, though, black knight is also much stronger, and thus your margin for error is correspondingly smaller. Hope this helps
