ok, bear with me here...

if i take a picture at maximum size (in terms of megapixels) and then reduce it to the size of the smallest picture size (in terms of megapixels), would that image be literally EXACTLY the same detail as one taken at the smallest setting, or would the detail captured at the higher setting be better?
basically, i'm trying to figure out if i should take all my pics at the highest setting and then reduce the dimensions of the photo to obtain a higher quality/resolution.

also, i realize that taking pics in a larger size format allows for better cropping, etc..., but, i'm talking about uncropped pics.
