4Ft Long biting Ig

I have a 4ft. Long ig. He is in heat. We have become prisoners in our own home. If we let him out of his cage he charges at us. He has been in heat for about a month and a half. I was putting food in his cage and he charged at me and bit me. I had to get sixteen stiches. This is getting out of control. We love our Ig, but we want him back to the way he was. This seems like a long time to be in heat. Can somebody Help.
