But I think I'll stick with crickets, not only are our crickets fed fresh vegetables and fruits for up to two weeks before we use them, I still have a hard time believing that a food item that is more than 90 percent water has more digestible material?
The water content is totally irrelevant! By weight, you may have to feed a larger amount of a food that has a high water content, but what matters is how digestable and balanced the remaining 10% is. Actually, for terrestrial sals, the extra water may be a bonus since they don't drink and must rely on their food and skin absorption for water (this point is just speculation on my part).
