i keep a tray of ice cubes (treated water) for when it gets really hot in my house. i put one in the water area of my tanks when it gets around 78 degrees. i don't do this very often, but sometimes its necessary. if you have a terrestrial area that you need to keep cool too, the best thing to do is just keep the tank in a cool place. i have had to move some of my salamanders into small temporary tanks and put them in my closet to keep them cool. obviously, this wouldn't be ideal for everyday heat, though. misting is a good suggestion by your pet store, i would do that often (several times a day with cold water) if its around 80 degrees.
