How does blotch count differ across the range of Northerns? I'm curious because I'm sitting on a group of 20 or so new born northerns (central Iowa) that seem to have a lot of variation in ventral and dorsal pattern.

:Wow. I really like the contrast on that guy. Too bad they usually dull with age. I also like the high blotch count. He must be from the northern part of their range.
