what is good soil?

finally i am convionced enough that my monitor is ok and can put soil as substrate . soil is not soil in my country , you have to go dig it up. what is good soil? what do i look for? do i need to add peat ot sand? do i have to test for its acidity? will baking in the oven kill any parasites present? how long do i bake it? does it has to be damp or dry? ]
