That's pretty much the rule of thumb I use too... I spot clean their cages every day, and if they've deficated (usually 2 days after a feeding, give or take a day), I offer them a meal... which they almost never turn down. So far so good! I'm glad to hear that yours are healthy, I'd be very interested to hear how they're doing down the road... at the rate they're going, they'll be monsters for sure!
