:Heh, that's what I meant, though 26" in 11 months wouldn't be too bad either. Do you feed all your snakes that much? I was just discussing the feeding rate of my hatchling gaigeae in this forum, and a couple people have warned me about "power feeding". There seem to be divided opinions on the issue... have you had any problems at all with your snakes, like fat deposits, lumps, etc? Does the increased growth rate put any sort of stress on the snake that you have noticed?
They were both about 13" when I recieved them at two weeks old. I just feed my hondurans enough to keep them digesting food. They dont turn down any food offered even if going into shed. With the rat pups, there is no bulging from the prey item after a day, but I'm sure it takes a couple days to remove all the nutrients from them. No overly abundant fat deposits, (they are a little bit bigger around than *my* pinkie finger) and they are sleek down their entire bodies. Lumps? only after eating :) Stress, the only time I have seen them stressed was when I tried to introduce aspen into their enclosures and they clung to the top and quit eating till I removed it. They are very healthy and recieve a veterinary exam after every shed(I work for a vet). Other than a couple ventral scales with superficial cuts in them they are perfect in every way. Awesome snakes to say the least!
peace,
Ian
