Hi,
I have kept and bred many different kinds of snakes, and now want to keep and breed the Eastern Indigo. The allure of these snakes based on the praise they get from their keepers/breeders has grabbed me, and I really want to get involved with these impressive beauties (especially since they are threatened and where once indigenous to the state I live in). Big problem though: Cost. Buying a group of Indigos to start a breeding colony is almost equivalent to buying a car. LOL Not to mention that they are hard to find as the relatively few breeders in the U.S. sell out almost instantly. I live in Mississippi where, like I previously mentioned, the snake was once indigenous. Has anyone else been successful getting a state/federal grant or loan to start breeding these snakes? I understand that contacting the MS state government is my starting point here, but I was hoping to hear some postive feedback from others that have done this already.
thanx,
Az
