They don't display the "intelligence" that indigos do. More like a kingsnake's level of brains. If the snake doesn't like being held, it will be obvious. They move fast.

:Do you handle yours, or are they a little too unpredicatable/nippy for casual handling.

So far, my experience has been that biting isn't part of their defense pattern. My male is pretty flighty but never tries to bite. My female is quite mellow, but active. If they were nippy, I'd get rid of them. Too much potential for trouble. I handle them a lot. I want them to become accustomed to me so when they are big adults, I don't have to worry about a "nippy" mussurana.
