Today I found my first live eastern indigo. Since moving to central florida I found three DOR's. Today at work I was called into the greenhouse and informed that there was a black snake in the plants that the person could hear crawling through the plants.
Yeah sure, another black racer in the greenhouse treefrog hunting. I start my SOP for racers rustle foliage hoping the damn thing will disappear in 5 acres of anthuriums. I was informed the snake was over here. I parted some foliage to see LARGE blue black scales. HOLY SMOKE, an INDIGO! It was about 4' long with just a little red on its lower jaw. Calmed down with a little bit of handling.Just a real mellow snake, don't know if the staff picked up the thou shall not whack message. Took out back by where the boss has a deer feeder set up. Once the snake saw the brambles it got real antsy, you know put ne down I'm home and off into the brush he went.
