Dear Trash,
In Texas it is illegal to own or possess any Texas Indigos(Drymarchon corais erebennus). In other words no keeping or breeding of this species is allowed by Texas law. Wild caught or captive raised is a non issue. None are permitted. I imagine there are healthy fines and stiff penalties for those that molest or capture one in the wild if they get caught.
With the legality the way it is, you might be better served by getting one of the following Drymarchon species instead:
Drymarchon corais unicolor(Unicolor cribo)
Drymarchon corais corais(Yellowtail Cribo)
Drymarchon corais melanarus (Black Tail Cribo)
all are great snakes, esp the yellowtails(My opinion, sorry biased)
Hope this helped you and answered your questions fully.
Sincerely,
Fred Albury
