Tips on probing

I have never done this before and need help.My female is five feet in length .She looks like she is developing keeled scales on the back half of her body.Not as pronounced as the pic by Dean on here.But they are definitly there. I want to make sure of what I got.I need to know what size probe ,lube and any other methods that anybody knows of.
