A female approaching 2 years old and 5 feet long isn't entirely unheard of. But the growth rate of males is typically faster and a 5 foot male at almost 2 years old is more likely.
Get it probed to make sure, and if it's a male, then contact the breeder. Sexing hatchling indigos isn't a perfect science. 95% correct answers in school will get you an "A", but in snake breeding and sexing, it will get you one very unhappy customer.
I recently purchased 1.1 Diamond Pythons from a very well known breeder/dealer. When I put the Diamonds together, they didn't behave like a male and female should. I suspected I had 2 males. That's part of the game though. For me, I buy from breeders who have good reputations because I can expect them to be "Honest", not "correct". The Diamonds have since probed to be 1.1, but they just as easily could have been 2.0.
All of the indigo breeders that I know wouldn't intentionally sell a mis-sexed snake. If he/she is reading this thread, plans are probably already being made to right the situation.
I'm sure you'll be able to negotiate a conclusion that will take some of the sting away from both of you. Good luck.
: It was hatched july 2000.I was told it was a female by a very well known indigo breeder. Now I think I have two males and I am not happy. So I want to probe it just to be sure.
