: I am not too familiar with the state laws in NJ, but I do know how a lot of the bureaucrats think. Some of the officers take it upon themselves to interpret the rules. Ask them to tell you exactly which law(s) prohibit you owning an Indigo in NJ. You may be suprised at what you find. I know that in Florida, I sold indigos to people for years. All got the required state and federal permits first. Then all of a sudden they decided they didn't like the idea of anyone owning a pair. They didn't want people breeding them. Now they will only issue permits for a single sex and then only if you are going to use the snake for educational purposes. I'm not sure, but I don't think the laws changed, only the interpretation of the "clerk" in charge. Thoughts???

: I understand completely the reasons to protect endangered species. But it's a shame that the law won't allow me to purchase a captive-bred indigo (for a pet) from a reputable breeder. So I guess I'll have to visit this forum occasionally and live vicariously through all those lucky enough to have these great animals.
Thanks for the replies!
