Hey gang,
It has been a while but my female laid 9 seemingly perfect eggs (she laid 5 eggs that hatched last year). The female that laid them was mauled by the male while I was walking the dog for literally 15 minutes; the gash was so bad that it took 20 stitches and we have been battling multiple infections, antibiotics, and lots of Silvadene. I was planning on giving this female the year off and probably should have now looking back. She is doing great now and finally feeding well, putting weight on and the infection is all but gone. My question is, does anyone know what the effects of antibiotics might be on developing eggs? Hopefully, all will be fine. I divided the clutch into two different incubating media; one with vermiculite which is what I normally use and the other with towels per Dean's advice in his article....I am actually liking the towel method a lot as it seems to maintain great humidity levels; now I'll just have to wait 100 days to find out! thanks in advance for any advice. I think I need to find a really big female to match up with this big male.
