I’ve seen small retail stores in rural areas that sell wallets, hat bands, stuffed rattlesnakes, fangs, rattles etc…they are certainly not from all roadkill snakes (although some may have been intentionally road killed!)
Makes me sick when I see that stuff. Yes true, some of us profit from selling captive born babies…sorry it’s a totally different deal. I don’t have a problem with selling products from, for example, farm raised alligators. I personally would not but them, but you are not harming wild populations, just like we do not harm wild pops by selling captive born babies.
As far as I know…there is no such thing as a rattlesnake farm, and it would not be economically feasible to sell snake products from captive raised snakes. So they go rape the environment.
So…I say…don’t buy this stuff…don’t create a market for some fools to go out and butcher wild predatory animals for profit.
While your at it, don’t buy rattlesnake or python boots, purses…etc
Nice that wild animals lose critical numbers and the rats they would eat run rampant and destroy thousands of lbs. of grain in starving nations….
So…somebody in the US can wear snakeskin boots to go line-dancing!!
Have I digressed here??
