I wouldnt discard the thought to fast tho...Lots of iguanid lizards (leopards/collareds/etc.) eat whole herbivores & they still need full spectrum light. I suspect coachwhips have to have light too. Again, the closer you imitate conditions similar to what an organism naturally evolved with....the better captive a critter tends to be.
: I do not use them any more and am having the same success. It's my understanding that herbevores and insectivores are much more dependent on full spectrum lighting than true carnivores. Snakes are a true seconday consumer...they consume entire organisms WHOLE. In theory, they should get any and all nutrients they need from those organisims.
: don't see how it would be logical that they would need UV light.
