: There are several big colubrids that would probably be loved by most of the folks in this group. Although I've only read about them, I've heard the false water cobra is another big, intellegent snake that is very tolerant of handling. The spilotes species will probably be more popular as CB specimens become more readily available.
: I think it has a lot to do with the fact that indigos are native to areas that are more familiar to most snake keepers. Easy access has made them easier to establish.
: Good Question
Spilotes are often seen in dealers shops and on wholesale pricelists as wild caught, they usually have nasty temperaments, and are fairly fast moveing snakes. Almost every one that I've seen has been an imported heavily parasitized specimen, sans nose rub. This coupled with the low price of these snakes and huge food consumption keep many people at bay. But they do look great don't they!!!
