I had a black mole snake for a couple of years that I got directly from an animal importer. It was, without question, the coolest snake I have ever kept (and I have kept hundreds of snakes over 20+ years).
I searched far and wide for a female at the time, and found none (this was before the internet).

The Mole Snake was jet black (except for one red scale on its side) and although rather a spirited hisser, it never made any attempt to bite. What was amazing about it was the feel. The snake was coal black, but it wasn't shiny like an indigo or black milk, it was dull and felt like a black rubber hose in your hands.
It was around 4 feet long. It was a feeding machine! I was devastated when it stopped feeding and died after a couple of years. Crypto was suspected, but I was a TA working on my MS at the time and couldn't afford a vet visit even if I wanted to go.
I have been looking for pair ever since. Vince Scheidt had some a few years back, but I couldn't afford it. I saw some babies at the Orlando expo about 10 years ago, but they weren't eating yet.
There is someone in the UK breeding and selling them (I found a link to a site online), but I haven't found anyone in the US currently selling them.
On a depressing note, we were in Zimbabwe, near Victoria Falls on vacation a few years ago and found 3 DOR silver Pseudaspis (one hit by the car in front of me - probably a good thing, I might still be in prison otherwise!). Here's a pic of one of the DORs.
