AMEN!!! Actually they will climb trees to get to lower level bird nests..I used to run cattle in central TX and we would lose 3 or 4 calves each year to fire ants..Mom would move off to feed and calves would lie still, FA would crawl thru their nostrils and KILL them..We had to patrol the pastures 4 or 5 times a day to get the calves up and the FA off them...In the 5 yrs I owned and worked this 500 acres I saw ONE snake, L caligaster, and this was in the late '80's early '90's in an area that should have been crawling (pardon the pun) with Elaphe, Lamp, Heterodon, Crotalus etc. It was about 50 miles NE of Austin Tx if you know the area...Sing On Choir!!!
They are evil and must be destroyed!!
: Anything that lays eggs on the ground in the south is in danger from these stinging little immigrants.
: Although there is no proof yet, I know that one of the field biologists at Kennedy space center is convinced they are a major limiting factor for indigo snakes.
: They DESTROY eggs in underground or ground level nests!!
