I've heard of the fly assasins, but not nematodes...I see big trouble with both, but TX A&M University has a division working on something to eradicate them...Now that's a little scary..Aggies "planning" to kill something...They sent more Commissioned Officers into WW2 than both the Army and Naval Academies combined...Plus they've had bad luck just building bonfires..There is a hormanal birth control available, but its very expensive and it has to sprayed repeatedly over contiguous areas..These things can have up to 440 colonies per acre...Carl
: I order nematodes from a biological supply business. these nematodes take out fleas and termites with ease, and with repeated and timely applications, the ants will soon disappear as well. if i get lazy though, and dont keep up the nematode spraying, they do come back.
: i believe the nematode is steinernema carpocapsae. pardon any spelling errors.
: the downside of this is that they eliminate many different types of buggies, so who knows what the consequences would be of using them on a large scale.

: : We also have some nasty critters up here. I used to see Bald Eagles and other Birds of Prey around here. Crows have all but destroyed the wild life that used to do ok.
: : I suppose the good thing is they are native. They just do better when suburbia takes over.

: : : Just a thought, works wonders on mites, roaches and flies also. Heck, I have sprayed it on all types of insects with nothing but GREAT results.
: : : Doug..arent you glad we live out here now? LOL
: : : Where the only things we have to worry about are #1) Earthquakes
