: : Your best bet is to simulate a Florida winter, with nightime drops in the upper 50's to low 60's. Daytime highs can still get (for a short period) to the upper 70's or even low 80's
: : (they will enjoy basking during this time)
: : There are some really good care sheets out there...Doug Taylor has a great one that details breeding methods.
: : Good Luck

Thanks for all your advice guys...Fred I'll go with you about the retained sperm and delayed fertization thing..I'll do my best and keep you updated this winter...Carl
: Carl,
: The first thing to consider is the females age, length and bodyweight. If she is underweight or to young( 2 yrs old) then it is best to wait a year.
: I find that a nightime drop down to 65 degrees can trigger breding. I have seen breeders maintain these animals at 50-60 degrees for prolonged periods of time(nightime drop), I have also seen these same breeders suffer the misfortune of respiratory disease in their snakes.
: I recommend opening the windows, at night, especially when the barometric pressure drops. As for the decrease in temps affecting the fertility level, due to retained sperm, I wouldnt bet on it.
: Fred
