: I have 3 snakes in one room--my indigo who is 14 months, my amel corn--4 years, and my jungle carpet--4 months old..its funny, but they all usually shed within a week of eachother, even though my corn is significantly older than the rest. Personally, i think it's just a coincidence..'cause I feed them all at the same time. Ive often wondered if snakes give off a pheromone before shedding. You know what they say--women that share the same household begin to have their periods at the same time..I have a hunch it may be the same with snakes--so far nododay has come up with an explanation...that is good enough for me--Ive been to herp shows and no answer as well.
My other snakes do not do anything quite like it. I feed my young andean milks at about the same time but they shed whenever. My sanzinia hardly ever shed, or eat for that matter. The indigos are fed at various times, with the female being fed about 2 times as often, but they still seem to shed about the same time. weird I guess. It makes for easy care for a couple of weeks.
