I personally like to get the eye cap off as soon as possible (otherwise, there is a good chance that it may not come off properly with the next shed). Since using humidity boxes in all of my cages, I have had few bad sheds. I would recommend a real good soak followed by dousing the cage with a lukewarm mist to help loosen the eye cap. Get a cotton swab and try to work around the edges until a piece begins to come off. Then, and very gently, use some dull tipped tweezers and SLOWLY and gently work the cap from the anterior side and then towards the posterior. If, however, you have any doubts, go to a qualified vet...don't ever force the eye cap.
: Is there any harm in letting the eye cap (which has not shed) remain until the next shed--as opposed to removing it? If I do leave it, and it does not come off with the next shed, then I think I'm going to the vet, but--I was thinking, if there is no harm in waiting, why not let nature take it's course--OR AM I MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE???
