: Is there any harm in letting the eye cap (which has not shed) remain until the next shed--as opposed to removing it? If I do leave it, and it does not come off with the next shed, then I think I'm going to the vet, but--I was thinking, if there is no harm in waiting, why not let nature take it's course--OR AM I MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE???
Matt,
I would not leave it until next shed, leaves room
for infection as well as reduces the vision of the snake.
Once had a Bairds Ratsnake who shed everything but
the tip of his tail . I did not pull it off and
shortly thereafter the tip of the tail necropsyed
and died, you get the idea. Take the eyecap off,
just do it gently.
