: I have a female and male eastern indigo, both about 2.5 years old. The female is about a foot shorter than the male, but is considerably more bulky. She is about 5 ft. long and 2.5 inches in diameter; he is about 6 ft. long and 2 inches in diameter. Food intake is about equal. Is this typical growth pattern for indigos? That is, do males begin bulking up after approaching maximum length? I have read that males are both longer and heavier. Thanks.
: Tim,
years and have noticed(in my snakes ) a marked difference in the growth pattern between males and females. Typically, males grow faster and longer and tend to "fill out" much later on. They also get bigger. Upon attaining sexual maturity, males go "off food" for a potion of the year, being that all they want to do is breed. These are my observation haveing kept these fine animals for the past 8 yrs., and bred them repeatedly. Hope this helps.
Sincerely, Fred
i have been keeping Eastern Inddigos for the past 8+
